Tutoring Services

Alison is a highly sought after tutor who found the best way to serve the many students who need her help is through small-group online tutoring. If you're a skeptical parent, scarred from witnessing your child struggle with virtual learning  during COVID, read on to learn how this is different and why it works.

Small Group Instruction Works

Community matters. Learning along with and from other students who struggle with the same things you do helps students feel less alone. They get to meet other kids who have the same difficulties at school, both academically and socially, mentally, and emotionally. Having this community of like-minded friends motivates students to show up and try their best. Scientific research in learning methods from Harvard proved that small group instruction improves academic achievement, relationships with classmates and faculty, and promotes psychological well-being.

It's not the e-learning nightmare that was covid

Alison has spoken to hundreds of parents who are understandably scarred from the experience of watching their children struggle and suffer through the e-learning models of the COVID days. Enrolling in a small-group session with Systematic Spelling is NOT that. Groups are limited to five students to ensure individualized attention. Every student is engaged in activity during 2x week Zoom lessons, so no one is left out or confused. Additionally, "office hours" are available on Fridays for students to receive more individualized attention and support.

The Nitty-Gritty

Schedule:

  • New groups for Book 1 will begin the week of January 14, 2024.
  • Mondays/Wednesday groups will meet from 4:00-5:00 EST on Zoom
  • Tuesday/Thursday groups will also meet from 4:00-5:00 EST  on Zoom
  • Spring Break: Week of March 25th (no tutoring sessions)
  • Sessions will conclude the week of May 5th
  • 16 week commitment required

Investment:

  • Highly-competitive pricing at $40 per session!
  • You won't find anything as effective for less. If you've already contacted other Dyslexia Therapists with Alison's same credentials and experience, you know that prices out there are astronomical compared to this
  • Cost is not reflective of the instructor's training (she got a Master's degree for this work specifically), her experience (11+ years immersed in teaching the science of reading in group and private settings), or her credentials (CALT, nationally certified dyslexia therapist).
  • Price per session is low because Alison firmly believes that literacy is a basic human and civil right. Finances shouldn't be the barrier to becoming fully and confidently literate.
  • Until all schools are able to provide quality and evidence-based literacy instruction from highly-trained teachers, tutoring is often the only option to get these kids the help they desperately need.
  • Tutorial services should not be reserved only for those who can afford it. Literacy is a basic human right. Literacy for all, because it matters, now more than ever.
